Trident Maple

This is my new, and first, Trident Maple aquired from Ben at the NIBS30 recently in Belfast.

I love the thick trunk, big size and great colour.

Just now, the colour is getting stronger each day. I’m told it’ll get even better.

The nebari need a little work and Mark has suggested some approach grafting as one way of filling the gaps. This winter I’ll try to source some whips, failing that I’ll try some cuttings.

But in any case, it’s a great addition to my collection as it is.

  1. Colour on this one is usually stunning. Enjoy it. You could layer it if you are a brave man 😉 Other option is to just fill the gaps with moss and ferns when exhibiting.
