I think this is some sort of Mugo Pine, but not sure.
I just repotted, and was shocked how few roots were in such a big pot. There was a big void beneath the tree where the original rootball was. After taking all away, but without being too aggressive, I put it into an octagonal pot.
The tree was styled originally in a Munster Bonsai Club Workshop by Ian Young in 2015.

You’re right😞. I was concentrating too much on the roots, and not enough on the position. I only noticed after I posted. 😕
